The name of Konigsberg was born by the fortress that stood alone on the Prussian land. This very fortress gave the name to the united city, which was renamed Kaliningrad in the 40s of the last century. Even now, there are typical burghers’ quarters here. There are also the Fishing Village and dazzling Cathedral with the tomb of famous German philosopher Immanuel Kant. And within a couple of hours’ drive from the centre of the city, there is the most beautiful Curonian Spit.
